How Do UV Lamps Work?
There is a tiny metal filament inside every UV lamp. When an electric current flows through the lamp, it excites the filament, which, in turn, results in UV light emission. Different tubes with different pressures will emit different wavelengths. For instance, for germicidal purposes, it is ideal to have a low- or medium-pressure UV light that can generate a UVC wavelength of roughly 254 nanometers.
UVC has a short wavelength. When viruses and bacteria are exposed to UVC waves, it damages their DNA, which renders them unable to infect a host. Coupled with air filters and air purifiers, UV lamps can provide a significant degree of protection against disease-causing organisms.

What Are the Benefits of Installing UV Lamps in Jacksonville or Orlando?
UV lamps are effective at helping to clear contaminants such as bacteria and viruses from the air within your home or office. They can remove mold, bacteria, and volatile organic compounds, thus reducing allergies, asthma symptoms, colds, and flu. The cost of operating a UV light is well worth the investment, as they are extremely energy-efficient and require minimal maintenance.
Moreover, because UV lights neutralize bacteria, they also help reduce odors circulating throughout your home or office. This means your air will not only smell fresher, it will actually be fresher than before. Coupled with HEPA filters, the results are as clear as night and day.

Are UV Lamps Safe?
Properly installed UV lamps are incredibly safe to use. UVC wavelengths have a powerful but limited range, and thus do not pose a health risk for human cells, as they can’t break through our natural outer dead-cell layer of skin or the tear layer in our eyes. Viruses and bacteria microorganisms targeted by UVC light are much smaller than human cells, allowing UVC light to easily reach their DNA structure and render them inactive.
Concerns over UV lamp safety are more common with open systems that operate by bathing a room in UV light; however, this isn’t typically the case. Most UVC lamps are contained within enclosures that are hidden away from view. This means no UV light is released into the room; rather, the UV light passes over the air as it circulates through your HVAC system.
It is important to note that you should NEVER open your AC panel if you have a UVC light installed, because it could cause burns or damage to your eyes. Always leave any repairs, adjustments, or new UVC light installation to the trained professionals.

Why Do You Need a Professional to Install UV Lamp Systems?
It is crucial to hire a professional to install a UV lamp system in your home or office. Hiring a professional ensures that the lamp is properly connected to the electrical network and positioned in the optimal location for maximum effectiveness. This helps ensure the system functions correctly and doesn’t pose a fire risk or other hazard to health and safety.
